My parent’s love story began when my mom received a Cracker Jack fortune at a Dodger’s game.
The fortune said:
“When you meet a boy named Guy. He will be swell."
She saved that fortune until one day in high school, a boy came home with her brother to practice in their band. His name? Guy.
Without hesitation, she glanced over to her mom and said, "I am going to marry him."
the love story and cracker jack that started it all...
My mom got kicked out of the house for dating my—at the time—long-haired dad, living at the YWCA for her senior year. My dad got drafted into the army and barely made it back in time for their wedding day.
But four children, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild later, their love still survived. They were married for over 50 years before the Good Lord took my mom home.
Witnessing their unconditional love, commitment to each other and our family, and their faith in God, truly shaped me into the wife, mother, and woman I am today. It was their marriage that grew my passion for lifelong love stories.
