Flower Girls And The Ring Bearer: Recent Trends For Every Guest’s Favorite Part of A Wedding Ceremony

We all know the traditional ceremony “drill.” As the last bridesmaid’s dress sweeps across the aisle, every witness turns to watch the ceremonies most adorable 60 seconds (if you’re lucky)  unfold. In enters a 4-foot-nothing ring bearer, buttoned into a miniature suit, wearing a shy smile. He steals the hearts of all of the women sitting in the crowd. Your heart melts as he and the groom lock eyes and then, your attention is drawn to a couple of real-life dolls dropping flower petals. Their hair done-up to compliment their fluffy dresses.

We may gawk over every wedding detail from the bride’s dress to florals… but oftentimes, the flower girls and the ring bearer steal the show. This wedding season, the RC Events Team has seen many fresh twists on this sweet ceremony tradition.

Madison & Jonathan’s Pinterest-Worthy Flower Girls and Ring Bearer

Without a doubt, Madison and Jonathan Bergamo are a match made in heaven; their ceremony kiddos… just as heavenly. The kids’ excitement to walk down the aisle before Madison was contagious.

There has been a shift in boutonniere designs from the traditional single-flower with greenery, to minimal florals. Some couples even choose non-traditional styles such as, metal pins, feathers, and bamboo. Flowers By Mae Mae crafted the ring bearers boutonniere, which followed recent male floral trends. To finish the look, he carried a wooden sign that read, “Here comes the love of your life,” along with a small ring pillow. His sweet smile definitely set the tone for the ceremony.

The flower girls spent the early afternoon having their hair done by Hair and Makeup By Sydney with the bridesmaids. Sydney assembled loosely curled, dutch-braided, half-up styles on each of the girls. More and more we are seeing flower girls transition from clean-cut hairstyles to more relaxed, boho-inspired styles. Another new trend we are noticing is, flower girl dresses are not nearly as full as they used to be. In fact, Madison chose for her flower girls to wear simple lace, slim-cut dresses down the aisle. While we did miss tulle a tiny bit, the two looked undeniably precious.

Flower Girls and The Ring Bearer Say Goodbye Pleather Shoes & Hello To Clean Sneakers

Clean sneakers are considered appropriate for most weddings these days. This is a great style to implement at your outdoor ceremony. The ones who sport this look the absolute best are of course, the kids.

Amelia and Ryan showcased a fun-spirited toddler as their flower girl. Talk about cuteness overload! Moss Flowers and Garden designed her crown to match the ceremony arch. She wore white high-top converse with ruffled socks and a pale pink dress (yes, THERE WAS TULLE).

Our bride Sabrina claimed she and Raul, her new husband, bribed their niece and nephew with toys to walk down the aisle. We pass no judgement… we may keep an extra pack of gummy bears in our emergency bag. The ring bearer was certainly melting hearts with his huge smile and “Old Skool” Vans paired with a bow-tie. Right beside him was his big sister in satin ballet flats, which we found much more stylish than your traditional white pleather shoe. Our favorite accessory of hers was her flower crown by Posh Peony, which totally rocked.

Sabrina and Raul’s Wedding (With An Edge) At The Mission Inn Riverside

Saturday, March 9 was a double-wedding day for the Rebecca Calagna Events team. Half of the team went to Temecula Creek Inn for an midday, outdoor “I do.” The other half executed Sabrina and Raul’s wedding with an edge at the Mission Inn, Riverside. The couple waited 21 years to be wed and did so in a way that was true to their love story. From the candle-lit ceremony in the chapel, to the intimate reception in the Spanish Art Gallery; this celebration of love was artsy and edgy in its personal touches by the couple.

The Guest Favors

The RC Events Team began the day by assembling guest favors. Sabrina and Raul chose to share their love for literature with their guests by giving them a book such as, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Stardust to take home. Inside was a custom skeleton bride and groom bookmark adorned with a tassel of a random shade. This made for a festive display against the stained-glass windows of the Spanish Art Gallery.

The Florals & The Cake

As vendors began to arrive, the art-covered ballroom began to take shape of the couple’s dream day. Posh Peony provided excellently crafted deep red, navy, blush, and cream florals for the chapel and table centerpieces. Also, the geometric-designed cake from Cucamonga Bakery made for a great focal point at the bottom of the stairs entering the ballroom.

The Guest Sign- In

Another unique touch added by the couple was their sign-in table. Rather than providing a guest book, the Encarnacion’s had their guests sign a jet-black guitar with gold and silver sharpies. The guitar case was crafted to detail the wedding timeline and stood on top of the sign-in table. Later, the case was laid on its side next to the sign-in guitar and was used as a small gift and card holder.

The Dress

Of all the details, the most awe-inspiring was Sabrina’s dress. She worked with Bowen Dryden to create a bespoke gown that screamed her name. Her gown was a soft, dusty-blue color adorned by embroidery. The stitched vines, flowers, and birds laid perfectly along the bodice and dramatic sleeves. A long train, a light grey ombre veil by The Veiled Beauty, and a pair of flashy, black-velvet booties completed the look.

The Ceremony

To top it all off, Sabrina and Raul followed a Celtic handfasting ritual where the two made a display of their spiritual union by literally tying the knot in front of their guests. This sweet gesture filled the gorgeous, golden chapel with love.

A wedding at the Mission Inn, Riverside is always elegant. However, Sabrina and Raul’s personal touches added an edgy twist to usual wedding celebration expectations. Their big day was just as unique as their love story.

Ashleyann and Raymond’s Wedding

Elegant and historical are two words that come to mind when describing Ashleyann and Raymond’s special day.  They were married at the beautiful and antique Mission Inn.  The combination of the old chapel and choice of white and green color palette was a match made in heaven.  From the beautiful heartfelt ceremony to the amazing hanging florals in the reception, Ashleyann and Raymond’s wedding was a night to remember.

The details of the ceremony were to die for.  Their choice of florals perfectly accented the architecture of the Mission Inn.  The flower arrangements simply added and enhanced the details of the chapel.  The details perfectly highlighted the couples sweet I Dos.  Just look at the gorgeous ceremony and of course the gorgeous couple!

Their reception was absolutely lavish and glamorous.  The details were picture perfect from the beautiful place settings with hints of gold to adorable signage on the guest book table.  The white florals with lots of greenery tied the whole room together perfectly with a sweet romantic touch.

One of our favorite details was the florals hanging from the chandeliers.  This was such a unique and romantic touch that pulled all the details together.

Congratulations to this sweet couple, we wish them a long and happy life together!
