Incorporating sentimental touches into your wedding details and decor makes the day all the more memorable for your guests. For some couples, saying, “I do,” to furever requires showcasing their pets in fun and special ways throughout their wedding day.
Although we have seen all kinds of pet devotions, dog parents are the most likely to follow this wedding trend of planning for paws-itively adorable nods to their fur babies. In this blog, you will be inspired with ways to include your dog on your wedding day!
If your pet cannot be physically present on your big day due to the wedding venue’s rules and regulations, don’t be discouraged. There are ways to make sure no guest forgets about your pet. The most popular doggy additions we see are at the open bar!
Choose signature drinks which embody their personality and include your dog’s name within the drink name. For example, “Scooby Spritz” or, “Mishkarita!”
Another addition we’ve seen made to the bar is, to have bartenders distribute customized cocktail napkins which have a drawing of your pet on them and a fun saying such as, “I do, too!”
If your wedding location is outdoors, you may have the ability to include your pet in the ceremony. You can be as creative as you’d like with this. We’ve seen a groom who got married at a private ranch carry a rooster down the aisle during the processional. Now, you may not have a rooster, but this is a cute idea for a small dog or cat!
If you want to avoid a fur covered coat, you could plan to have a well-trained dog fill the position of ring bearer by assembling the ring box to their collar and commanding them to come to you. Or, plan for one of the flower girls to walk them on-leash down the aisle.
Bonus if you dress your dog up by having your florist create a sort of corsage to attach to their collar. And of course, you could always buy them a wedding day outfit to wear!
There are so many ways to cleverly add touches of your pet’s presence to your wedding decor and details. Some couples get custom cake toppers made to add to their wedding cake. Another fun detail we’ve seen is, customized stickers of the couple and their dogs scattered about the dessert table.
If you want to go big, here’s a fun idea taken from one of our couples. Have Custom Foam Core Big Heads made of your dog(s) and plan for your bridal party to carry them into the reception area during the grand entrance. This addition is sure to get a laugh out of your guests and bring the spirit of your pet into the wedding celebration.
However you decide to include your dogs or pets into your wedding day details, have fun with it! It’s your wedding day and you have permission to do whatever you want to. We’re in agreement that having a dog together is a big commitment for a couple, so it’s only natural that you want to have them be a part of the day you all become a family.
